In December of 2017 I was won my first DSLR camera, before that I would just shoot pictures using my friends DSLR camera (this is how I got interest in photography). My first thought was how am I going to learn properly to take pictures without spending money? Nowadays, it’s away easy with the technology and social media, so I searched on YouTube photography for beginners’ topics and this is how I got to know this Instagram/social influencer photographer.
Based in Seattle, Washington but currently living in New York city, she has been taking photographs for 12 years now. Jessica Whitaker is a young influence photographer who has a YouTube channel and a popular photography Instagram. Jessica Whitaker says on her website “I have a wide range of interests but they all center around creating + communicating with people. let's talk about my most favorite way that I create + connect... photography!

by: Jessica Whitaker
She photographs and edited them afterwards, she interacts with the object or person to create what is on her mind. If I had to cite a module in the course that would fit her style of picture it would be module 10, when we discussed about photo manipulation from Eugene Smith and Sebastiao Salgado.
Jessica Whitaker interact with the people and she manipulates the end of the photographs according to her photography style, as she is a contemporary portrait photographer, you will see that she takes modeling photographs, wedding photographs, senior photographs, all portrait photographs. She also influences people to take pictures, on her YouTube channel she uploads many videos teaching people how to create and take photographs.
Last year she created a Facebook group called “build+bloom by Jessica Whitaker” where photographers and photography aspiring can communicate with each other, post their work, it’s a group where she wants photographers to be encourage, have inspiration and creativity. This group have over 58,000 members. Not only a group but she also created an Instagram that she shares other people work so they can actually be noticed between the social media contemporary photography.
This young photographer has inspired me with her photo manipulation, she plays a lot with the temperature of the photograph, the colours, and poses.
She has her own packages (for the public) for taking photographs and she also take photos for magazines, fashion companies, and campaigns.
Photo manipulation is the photography style that I am more interested in, the creation and composition of Jessica Whitaker are art for me. The colour playing, portraits, and her photographs are inspiration for me and the support that she gives to people who actually want to be a photographer influenced me to try photography.

Photography and ethic

Portrait pictures has always been my favourite style of pictures. I love taking pictures of people and their faces. I believe that when you shoot pictures you can save that to be a memory for your lifetime. Today I photographed my roommate, it was just a simple outside photoshoot. It took a whole day of planning the place, clothes, makeup and hair production, the result was awesome, but after shooting those pictures I love editing because I believe you can enhance the picture and you can bring out what is on your mind to the actual picture.  As photography is art, when editing the photos, we can show what is on our mind.
In this photoshoot I have created filters to enhance the scenario of this photoshoot, I wanted to show the heat of the summer, warming up these pictures, I mostly played with the temperature(increasing), decreasing highlights, and shadows on Adobe Lightroom.
I think my photos are straight forward to the audience, I think that they can understand that I am just showing that it’s a photoshoot with a beautiful girl in a sunny summer day. To confuse or misguide the audience I would have to do much more photoshop editing which I don’t know how to use yet. They are not much different from the original, I haven’t change anything besides playing with the temperature, that’s the main difference from the original pictures. My photographs are only personal photographs and to be used as a memory, my photographs can’t be used as press photography because I am not recording or documenting any news, or currents events impacting the history. My photographs are only for personal use and moments that are only interesting only to the people being photographed.

My pictures could be considered as an art, I composite, create, and edit, the main difference between art and press photography is that press photography are usually to document, record events to the newspapers or tv news.

Photography is an art, and I believe that photography can be modified pictures for a better purpose. Photography in general used to create moments and emotions when the pictures are being taken by the photographers they are trying to show whatever is on their mind as an expression of an art.
